Cathedral Rock with Richard Lake, 1989

The great thing about guiding novice climbers is that you can induce them, usually through fear, to happily carry huge loads for you.

No helmet necessary.

“How much farther?”

“It’s getting a little heavy.”

“”Don’t worry, we’re almost halfway and I’m feelin’ great!”

“This 10.c face shouldn’t be any problem.”

“Try to stay out of this slot.”

“Most climbers agree that a blue pack helps them to maintain balance better.”   :[

“Maybe on the way down we should go over and do one of the Cathedral Spires.”

“Not much farther.  Don’t lose the pack.”

“There now you can’t say that wasn’t worth it.  Why don’t we just sit here in our lawn chairs for a while and knock back a few beers while I grill some burgers on the Hibachi.”
