Castle Mountain showing the hut and the route. The Upper Brewer Buttress is 1000′ feet of sustained , vertical, moderate climbing over good rock. An excellent route. We went too far north to descend back to Goat Plateau and it turned out to be a race to outrun a thunderstorm. Apparently an easy mistake to make. The summit plateau is a huge expanse of unglaciated terrain.
The hut is perched on a spectacular precipice overlooking the Bow River Valley. The stylish and Frank Gehry-esque outhouse is like “totally awsome …dude” and itself well worth the hike in.
